About Me

Salam alaykum!  I am a female living in the US, and after a great deal of researching, prayer, reading, and soul searching, a convert to Islam as of May 2008, alhamdilulah.

I teach at a university and enjoy running, reading, and learning about new cultures and ways of thinking.  I have (too) many degrees which has earned me overwhelming debt, but a plethora of random knowledge on various topics.

As Einstein said, “The thing is to not stop questioning.”  My hope is to use this blog as a platform to do just that.

  1. Asalamu Alaikum Sakina!

I did not know that you had a blog masha’Allah. Jazaki’Allahu khair for linking FHWS…I returned the favor and put your blog on my blog roll. Keep up the good work insha’Allah. Tara Umm Omar

  2. Salaam, Sakina. I’ve enjoyed your blog immensely. I hope you continue to document your journey. I found reading your accounts quite helpful to me in mine. Cheers!

  3. Asalamu alaikum, Sakina! Thank you so much for adding me to your blog roll. That’s most kind. Yours is on a very short list of blogs to add to a blog roll if I figure out how to add a blog roll! In the meantime, I hope you’re having a very smiley day.

    • Walaykum salam!

You are welcome! I find it much easier to add everyone to my blogroll so that I can find their blogsites easily! You can add blogs via the dashboard -> links -> add new -> and then make sure to make it public. It took me a little while of playing around with it to figure it out!

Hope your Monday is going well!

  4. Salams Sakina,
Great blog and really touching story. I have some queries and was hoping I could have your email address so I could better explain my situation.

    • Walaykum salaam,

My apologies for my very late response – my email address is included above in the “about me” section. You can email me there if you’d like.

  5. Salam Alaykum sister.
    Welcome to Islam…
you’ve a nice website, my sister
but I suggest you to make a change on it’s appearance
the most part of the page is Empty and grey!
so you can select another Theme, which covers whole of the page, if you like!
so if you like , I can help you do that.
meanwhile I’d be happy if you take a look at my website .
with the best wishes for you.

  6. The world needs women like you to educate them to understanding. I can’t remember when I first read your thoughts (I am an old lady) but the world needs women like you to educate them to acceptance of one another
